Workshop: Improvisation & Creative Playing for Strings

Improvisation for String PlayersMarcelo M Vieira, Brazilian cellist and singer based in Baton Rouge will give a Workshop on improvisation and creative playing for bowed strings at the Grace Notes Violin Studio. Marcelo is a graduate student at LSU, majoring in in Jazz Studies. Crossover artist (classical/popular) for more than 10 years, in this workshop he will be introducing the up-to-date topic of improvisation for bowed string players. He will talk (and play) about how to start improvising, ways of exploring your own creativity through your playing and techniques to write and/or play your own lines in songs and instrumental music . The games and methods he will work on can be useful for any musical style. Besides playing, Marcelo has been performing his original Cello&Voice works, singing and playing his own songs and arrangements.

How much: $10 (free if you`re a Grace Notes student)

When: Feb 22nd, 7:00pm

Where: Grace Notes Violin Studies - 2223 Quail Run Dr. Building A-2, right off of

Perkins Road.
